Residential Homes
Residential Habilitation services are provided to Individuals diagnosed with an Intellectual Disability. Individuals live in licensed or unlicensed provider homes that are owned, rented, or leased by the provider. This residential habilitation service is built on the principle that every participant has the capacity to engage in lifelong learning. The Individuals will acquire, maintain, or improve skills necessary to live in the community, to live more independently, and to participate meaningfully in community life. Residential Habilitation services are provided in community settings that must be inclusive rather than segregated. Services consist of assistance, support, and guidance in the general areas of self-care, health maintenance, decision making, home management, managing personal resources, communication, mobility and transportation, socialization and relationship development and the use of community resources. Residential Habilitation services are delivered in the Individual’s own home. Respect for personal routines, rhythms, rights, and independence is inherent to the service as is access to experiences and opportunities that promote privacy and personal growth. Laurel House, Inc. serves not only Fayette County Individuals but people across the state of Pennsylvania.
