Community Participation Support
Community Participation Support is a service provided as a way to integrate an individual into the community. This service often operates between 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday – Friday. There are exceptions to this rule if activities are scheduled outside of this time frame, such as a bowling league, that the individual wants to participate in. The activities must also be considered community participation and inclusion. This service’s main purpose is for the individual to create relationships with non-disabled peers while also receiving support from a CPS.
These services should result in participation that is recognized and valued by other community members. The activities that an individual participates in should be built on the interests, gifts, and strengths of an individual while also enforcing any desired outcomes as articulated by the individual. Activities must be person centered and attempt to increase relationships and further experiences in the community.
