Community Participation Support
Community Participation Support Services usually occurs between the hours of 8:00 am-5:00 pm, Monday-Friday. There are exceptions to this rule if activities are scheduled only outside this time frame such as bowling or dart leagues and the Individual wants to participate in these activities and the activities qualify as community inclusion (activity with non-disabled peers). Individuals should be given opportunities and support for community inclusion and building interest and developing skills for potential competitive integrated employment. Services should result in active, valued participation in a broad range of integrated activities that build on the Individual’s interests, preferences, gifts, and strengths while including any desired outcomes related to employment, community involvement or membership. All Community Participation activities are person centered and expected to increase social roles and relationships, build experiences in the family and community, increase potential for employment and experience meaningful community integration and inclusion. This information is taken from the service definition.
